Refurbished vs New Robot Vacuums: What to Know Before Buying

Quick answer

Buying a certified refurbished robot vacuum can save you up to 50% while delivering the same cleaning power as new models. Look for a certification that includes testing and a warranty, like eufy's refurbished options. If you want the latest features and full warranty coverage, a new model may be worth the extra cost.

The robot vacuum market is booming, and with it comes a growing selection of refurbished models. For budget-conscious shoppers, a refurbished robot vacuum can be a tempting way to get premium features without the premium price tag. But is it a smart buy? In this article, we'll bust common myths and give you the facts you need to make an informed decision.

We'll focus on certified refurbished vacuums, which undergo rigorous testing and come with a warranty. We'll compare them to new models, using eufy's lineup as a prime example. By the end, you'll know exactly what to look for and whether a refurbished robot vacuum is right for you.

Myth: Refurbished means broken or low quality

Many shoppers assume that a refurbished product is one that was returned because it was defective. While that can be the case, certified refurbished items are thoroughly inspected, repaired, and tested by the manufacturer or a trusted third party. They often look and perform like new, but at a fraction of the cost.

For example, eufy's certified refurbished robot vacuums are listed as '90% New' and come with a warranty, giving you peace of mind. These units have been through a rigorous refurbishment process to ensure they meet quality standards. So, the 'broken' myth is largely unfounded when you buy certified.

• Always look for 'certified refurbished' and a warranty to ensure quality.

Myth: Refurbished vacuums don't have the latest features

It's true that refurbished models are often from previous generations, but they can still pack impressive technology. Take the Refurbished eufy X10 Pro Omni White (Certified, 90% New) – it offers 8,000 Pa suction, MopMaster 2.0, AI.See smart cleaning, and an all-in-one station. That's a feature set that rivals many new models on the market.

Similarly, the Refurbished Robot Vacuum Omni E25 (Certified, 90% New) comes with 20,000 Pa turbo suction, HydroJet self-cleaning mop, and DuoSpiral detangle brushes. These are not outdated specs; they're high-end features that can handle most homes effectively.

• Check the specs – a refurbished model may have all the features you need.

Myth: Refurbished vacuums have no warranty or support

This is a big concern, but certified refurbished products typically come with a warranty. eufy's refurbished vacuums, for instance, include a warranty that covers defects and malfunctions. This means you're not left high and dry if something goes wrong.

Always check the warranty period and what it covers before buying. A warranty is a sign that the manufacturer stands behind the product, even if it's refurbished. Without it, you're taking a risk.

• Always verify the warranty terms before purchasing a refurbished vacuum.

Myth vs. Reality: Verdicts

• Myth: Refurbished vacuums are unreliable: Certified refurbished vacuums undergo testing and come with a warranty, ensuring they meet quality standards. Verdict: False – if you buy certified.
• Myth: You miss out on the latest tech: Many refurbished models, like the X10 Pro Omni, have features that rival new models. Verdict: False – check specs.
• Myth: No warranty or support: Certified refurbished items typically include a warranty, like eufy's refurbished vacuums. Verdict: False – always verify.
